AI access (MCP)
===============

MyInvoice on the Mac can share your data with an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT (Codex) or Cursor. You can then ask about your business in plain language, and the assistant finds the documents it needs and works out the answer:

- "Who was my biggest customer last year?"
- "How has the fuel price per litre changed over the last 5 years?"
- "Show sales and expenses month by month with the percentage change."
- "Which invoices are overdue?"
- "Which products are below their minimum stock level?"

The connection uses the open MCP standard (Model Context Protocol). The assistant can read invoices and other sales documents, expenses, customers, payments, products and stock data.

## Requirements

- MyInvoice 3.3.1 or newer on a **Mac**
- the **Pro** plan
- MyInvoice must be running — the assistant can only connect while the app is open
- an AI assistant installed on the same Mac

## Step 1 — Turn on access

Open the app's **Settings** (MyInvoice menu → Settings…) and go to the **AI Access** tab. Turn on **Allow AI clients to read data**. The **Status** field shows a green dot and the server address, for example `http://127.0.0.1:64045/mcp`.

## Step 2 — Choose the shared accounts

Under **Shared Accounts**, select the accounts (companies) the assistant may read. No account is shared by default. You can stop sharing at any time, and it takes effect immediately.

## Step 3 — Connect the assistant

### Claude Desktop

Click **Install in Claude Desktop…** and save the `MyInvoice.mcpb` file (for example in Downloads). It opens in Claude Desktop; confirm with **Install**. The port and token are already filled in, and no other software is needed.

After changing the port or generating a new token, install the extension again.

### Claude Code

Under **Connect a Client**, click **Copy** next to Claude Code and paste the command into Terminal.

### ChatGPT / Codex

Copy the configuration from the ChatGPT / Codex entry and add it in the ChatGPT app for Mac (Settings → MCP servers) or to `~/.codex/config.toml`. This configuration is used by Codex in the ChatGPT app, the Codex CLI and the editor extension.

Regular ChatGPT conversations (including in the browser) only connect to servers that are publicly reachable on the internet, so they cannot use data stored on your Mac.

### Cursor

Copy the configuration from the Cursor entry and add it to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`.

### Other apps

Any app that supports MCP over HTTP can connect: use the server address from the **Status** field and the header `Authorization: Bearer <token>` with the token from the **Security** section.

## Security and privacy

- **Read-only.** The assistant cannot change or delete anything in the app.
- **This Mac only.** The server accepts connections only from the same computer, and only while MyInvoice is running.
- **Access token.** Every connection needs the token. If you think someone else has seen it, use **Regenerate Token…** — existing connections stop working until you update their configuration.
- **Selected accounts only.** The assistant sees only the accounts selected under Shared Accounts.
- **No sensitive details.** Bank account numbers and KSeF files and technical data are not shared.
- **Keep in mind:** data the assistant reads is sent to the provider of that AI model (for example Anthropic or OpenAI) and is covered by its terms. Share only accounts whose data you are comfortable sending there. The maker of MyInvoice is not part of this connection and has no access to that data.

## Troubleshooting

The assistant says MyInvoice is not reachable
:	Start MyInvoice on this Mac and check that the switch in the AI Access tab is on and Status shows a green dot.

The assistant says the token was rejected
:	The token has changed. In Claude Desktop install the extension again; in other apps copy the configuration again.

The assistant sees no accounts
:	Select at least one account under Shared Accounts.

Status shows a port error
:	The port is used by another app. Click **Pick Another Port**, then update the assistant's configuration.

The tab only shows a note about the Pro plan
:	AI access is part of the Pro plan. After you upgrade, all options appear automatically.

The assistant shows outdated data
:	Data is refreshed a few seconds after each change in the app. Ask again.
